Generation Magazine Interview

Generation Magazine: Can you tell us a bit about your album?
Mandi Leigh: Right now I'm recording it with Era Productions in Los Angeles. We're about half way done with it. It's got a pop foundation to it, but we're mixing styles of r&b, urban, and rock. So there is diversity on the album, but it doesn't strain too far from pop.

GM: Do you have any favorite songs off the album?
ML: Yeah, "Like a Queen," it's very rocked out pop and also "Going
Away" it's a ballad that my company wrote for me and I love it, I
love it's message, it just means a lot to me.

GM: When is your album going to be released?
ML: We don't have an official release date, but we're hoping
spring/summer of this year

GM: What do you think of talent shows like American Idol, Making the Band, etc.?
ML: I'm kind of 50/50 about them. I do believe it's good to let
talent outlet in America that way, I mean I did Arizona Idol. I've
been singing since I was 3 and professionally since I was 15 doing
the demos, etc. I guess it's good if you win, I do support them. I'm just 50/50. Whatever works for you.

GM: Is there somebody you'd love to collaborate with on your album?
ML. Production wise I'd love to work with Missy Elliot .Just because all the sounds going into my album, hip hop would be amazing. Vocally would be Craig David. He's so talented, he's my answer everytime. He's my favorite male vocalist out there and I just think that would be lots of fun.

GM: Is that who you would tour with?
ML: Yes

GM: Are you doing to be touring soon?
ML: I do have plans to do shows around the United States. My company is in talks about tours, but nothing is set in stone. Right now we're booking shows as they come up, but I'll be touring the United States this summer.

GM: Is there anything in the business you like and dislike?
ML: I love the passion you can put into this career. I love the
traveling and meeting all kinds of people. I'm lucky to be with my
company because they let me have so much input.

GM: Have you had any strange fan experiences?
ML: I guess, when I was doing a show in Florida, there was this group of 10 or 15 people following me around the hotel. I guess I found that a little strange.

GM: Is there anything you want everyone to know that I haven't asked yet?
ML: Yes, I want everyone to know that I'm very involved in charity
work. If I can just visit, sing, or bring toys to make children
smile, then it's worth it.

GM: Is there any message for your fans?
ML: Thank you for all the support and hope you buy my album when it comes out.

GM: Oh, I'm sure they will! They you for your time. Bye!
ML: Bye
